On the occasion of the birth of Mary (September 8th) in 1947, Blasius Kurz began building this chapel in the Weggenziegelhütte after the family and the property had survived the Second World War unscathed.
On August 15th (Assumption of the Virgin Mary) 1949, the chapel was ceremoniously inaugurated by Pastor Laux. The year on the bell tower indicates this event.
To commemorate the inauguration, a May service takes place every year on Ascension Day when the weather is good, to which visitors from Spraitbach and the surrounding area are always welcome.
