The steep Kreuzpointersteig is the shortest connection from the Panoramaweg to the Salzach. Along the way, it offers spectacular views of the Salzach Gorge near Ach and the old town in Burghausen.
Coming from the Salzach, the Kreuzpointnersteig starts just before the bench as an inconspicuous path leading upwards. There used to be a sign here, but this is currently missing.
The entry into the - now somewhat adventurous, as it is somewhat dilapidated - path is extremely easy from above: there is a sign here.

The Salzach is a right tributary of the Inn and the longest and most water-rich at 225 km in length. Shortly before the confluence with the Inn, the Salzach between Burghausen and Hochburg-Ach offers a wildly romantic natural spectacle, the Salzach breakthrough.

The steep Kreutzpointnersteig connects the panoramic path in the Neustadt with the path along the Salzach. Due to the massive snowfall at the beginning of December 2023, many trees fell there and the path was damaged. The work to make the path safe to walk on again took a long time due to the steep slope. A specialist company removed the last fallen trees on the slope and repaired the path. It has been open again since May 22, 2024.
