Hiking
The nature reserve includes the eponymous "Sickler Pond" with its seasonally dry banks and the adjacent moist to wet meadows. With its species-rich and structurally rich bank vegetation, the water offers a protected habitat for numerous dragonflies and amphibians. The pond area is also a feeding area for bats and birds. The surrounding moist, flower-rich reed grass meadows and bristle grass meadows also attract many, sometimes rare insects, such as the black "clover burnet" with its striking red spots, a butterfly that is endangered in Hesse.
