The nature reserve includes the eponymous "Sickler Pond" with its seasonally dry banks and the adjacent moist to wet meadows. With its species-rich and structurally rich bank vegetation, the water offers a protected habitat for numerous dragonflies and amphibians. The pond area is also a feeding area for bats and birds.
