The water tower at Dränkweg 4 in Bad Zwischenahn is a water and observation tower. It is a listed building primarily because of its importance in terms of economic and technological history.
The tower, clad in exposed brickwork, was designed by the Hamburg architect Fritz Höger and built in 1937–1938. Obtaining the material proved difficult; Iron for the concrete reinforcement and pipes for connecting to the drinking water supply partly had to be purchased from the Air Force and the Navy. The tower was put into operation on June 1, 1938.

The elevated tank of the 35 meter high tower holds 210 m³ of water. It stands on reinforced concrete supports. Office space was built into the lower floors of the tower. Between 1950 and 1971, the two lower floors housed the tourist office of the spa administration, and later the “Bad Zwischenahner Woche” association was housed there. At times the tower also housed the so-called “Ostdeutsche Heimatstube”.
Today the tower is used as a lookout tower. The viewing platform can be reached on foot via 180 steps, but due to the structural condition, the tower cannot currently be climbed.
In 2009 it was decided to illuminate the tower from the north and south.
