Jägersburg was built from 1721 to 1728 as a hunting lodge for the Bamberg prince-bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn. In his standard work on Franconian monuments, Georg Dehio emphasizes the special closeness of the complex, which arose from the connection between the then "modern castle building" (France!) And the "conservative, castle-like gate tower and courtyard enclosure"
Throughout its history, Jägersburg has had many owners and many uses - u. a. as a military hospital, nursing home or tobacco factory! Since 2011, the Baroque castle is once again owned by the von Bentzel family and serves as a venue for sophisticated events.
