Old Church Illingen – Museum Work on the Rhine

Illingen's old village church belongs to the political community. It is located on the southeast corner of the district and was built in 1835 according to plans by August Moosbrugger instead of the church built in 1771/72. In 1937 it was completely renovated and the choir was lengthened and the sacristy was added. On the entrance side there is a low tower on the roof, in the nave there are four window axes. Today the "Arbeit am Rhein" museum is located in this church.

In 1995, the "Work on the Rhine" museum was set up in the old church in Illingen and, with its local history collection, is part of the cross-border Baden-Alsatian museum concept "Ökomuseum Rheinauen" (PAMINA). One focus of the exhibition is on the typical occupations of fishing, gold panning, basket weaving, clog making and the living conditions of the local population.
