The name Upjever is first mentioned in 1420 in the so-called Stader Kopiar, a Bremen archidiaconate register. In this list of all churches in Friesland, a curia in Upjevere is listed as the economic yard of the church. In the Middle Ages, the heath region came into the possession of the Jever rulers. Around 1551 there was a stately outwork with a sheep farm on the site of today's forester. Reforestation of the forest is said to have started during this time. According to a report by Waddewarden Pastor Braunsdorf in the Collected News of Jever's reign, the first acorns were sown by Maria von Jever himself.

We live very close by and go there three times a week when the weather permits. It's really beautiful. But it's even nicer when the forester's house opens again and you can stop there.
