Small stone cippus, surmounted by a modest wooden cross, which indicates the exact point where the remains of the aircraft and the body of Major Francesco Baracca, the famous Italian airman who fell on 19 June 1918 while engaged in an action of strafing at low altitude on Montello. The funeral took place in Quinto di Treviso on 26 June 1918. Gabriele D'Annunzio, his admirer, gave the funeral speech. The body was later buried in the cemetery of Lugo di Romagna, the pilot's birthplace. On the first anniversary of his death, a chapel was inaugurated in Nervesa della Battaglia in his memory, often erroneously indicated as the place where he fell.Registrations:
