Popular place among cyclists right at the mouth of the Werre into the Weser. Benches to rest and look out over the Weser. Rest area under a large tree on the Weserradweg. How about a detour on the Else Werre cycle path in the direction of Bad Oeynhausen to the Werrepark shopping center and the Sielterrassen?

Nice view over the Werre estuary and the Weser. Great bike path, brand new northbound (2018). Nearby are a few excursion cafes overlooking the Weser.

The Werre has its source in the western Lipper Bergland near Horn-Bad Meinberg and drains large parts of the Ravensberger Mulde between the Wiehengebirge and Teutoburg Forest. At Bad Oeynhausen it flows into the Weser at the Großer Weserbogen. The largest tributaries of the Werre are the Bega, the Aa and the Else.Wikipedia

Worth seeing is also the Colon Sültemeyer fountain, better known locally as the pig well. On the well is a obese Westphalian farmer, the Colon Sültemeyer, presented with 5 pigs. In 1981 the artist Ernemann Sander from Königswinter created the landmark. Legend has it that the farmer's pigs sparkled in the mud like silver. The farmer tried the strange shiny crystals that had caught in the bristles of his pigs. After the discovery of the salty discovery that the farmer had made, the construction of the saline Neusalzwerk began.

The multi-span bridge on the Werrekuss runs parallel to the direction of flow of the Weser and spans diagonally across the Werre. The ramps that run in the foreland area and are seamlessly connected to the main opening connect with the existing network of paths and viewpoints with a curved route. A fish-belly beam made of steel, optimized for absolute lightness in its flat curvature and large span, lies like a feather over the river landscape. Due to the shapes reduced to a minimum, the bridge with the gradient raised due to flood reasons acts as a light, transparent and almost floating connection between the two bank areas of the Werre estuary. The entire, continuous upper chord steel construction is clad with stainless steel sheets. The railing was made with vertical stainless steel filling bars.
Year of manufacture 1999
Total length 140 m
Spans 4 x 10 m - 60 m - 4 x 10 m
Width 3.5 m
Superstructure area 490 m²
230 m³ of concrete
Construction steel 155 t
