In good westerly winds, the former transport dam is a true high-speed road. It separates the Lüttmoorsee from the tidal saltwater lagoon in the south. The various bodies of water in the Beltringharder Koog are resting and breeding grounds for large bird swarms.

It was not until around 1934 that a six-kilometer long stone dam was piled up through the Wadden Sea, which has hitherto been the only "solid" connection between the Hallig and the mainland near Cecilienkoog. The dam was mainly used for material transport.
