The dwarf kingdom of Hemer. The legend tells that dwarfs settled in the area around the Sundwiger forest in ancient times. Under the rocks, they searched for gold, silver, gems and other precious metal. The famous dwarf king Alberic was master of all the treasures. Now the neighboring giants heard of all the wealth and set out to loot the rock castle of the dwarfs. The dwarves were able to hide from the giants in the farthest subterranean passages while they only reached the large rock hall. Suddenly Alberic spoke a spell, and the ceiling of the Rock Hall fell on the giants. Since this event is located at this point the sea of rocks. A tombstone of a giant can still be seen today: a rock with a portrait of the giant was set up in paradise.

This "Elfenland" is definitely worth seeing. And those who may even see a fairy or a troll need not be surprised in this rocky sea. ;O)
Another world right outside the door.

It is worthwhile in the summer to climb down the wooden stairs.
Below it is wonderfully cool when it is very warm up.

The Felsenmeer is the playground of my childhood! The MTB was called BMX and there were no fences there either. The rocks and columns had names like chute, ice cellar or Devil's Canyon. Who does not know this forest should definitely plan a visit when the opportunity arises.
Something is the same as it used to be. It is impressively beautiful!

Directly on the outskirts of Hemer extends on a 12.9 hectare area a bizarre rock landscape - a sea of rocks, which is about 700 meters long and 100 to 200 meters wide. The Big Rock Sea, the Small Rock Sea and the Paradise are called the three areas, where in turn many symbolic rock formations can be seen.
