Please check local regulations for: Tal der Roten Weißeritz
The Weißeritztalbahn is today Germany's longest-serving narrow-gauge railway. It started operations in 1883. Since the Weißeritztal was too narrow for a standard-gauge railway, a railway line with a track width of 750 millimeters was used for the first time. The train still runs between Freital and Kipsdorf.

Unfortunately there was no view of the train yesterday, but it is quite an experience to stand by the side of the path and the train rolls majestically by.

Driving a steam engine is always fun for boys big and small (girls too, of course!). In the summer holidays at peak times unfortunately extremely crowded :-( but standing room in the open wagon is still better than walking back to Hainsberg :-)
