The highest summit of the Allgäu Alps can be planned as a day tour if you are in good condition. In the tub between Krottenkopfscharte and Mädelejoch you can watch marmots again and again. However, one should not disregard the approach to Elbigenalp (ascent from the Austrian side) or in the Spielmannszug. In the Spielmannsau you can also by taxi from Oberstdorf (about 22 €) shuttles.

Refreshments and overnight accommodation: Hermann-von-Barth Hütte (hermann-von-barth.at) on the ascent or ascent via Elbigenalp, Kemptener Hütte (kemptner-huette.de), Berggasthof Spielmannsau (www.spielmannsau-berggasthof .com)

Tip: Take Bergkäs from the Oberauhütte, at the end of the Spielmannszug

A mountain with vision. The exhausting Kraxelei is worthwhile!

Prominent and worthwhile summit. Ideal to "take away" on the way to or from the Hermann von Barth hut.
Slight scrambling in the upper part - but absolutely worth it! The backpack can be left at the fork in the road, given the trust in humanity.

The roof of the Allgäu Alps - after a relatively easy ascent you will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view. On clear days you can see Lake Constance in its entirety.
