    Mountaineering

The highest peak in the Allgäu Alps can be planned as a day tour if you are in good shape. You can often observe marmots in the tub between Krottenkopfscharte and Mädelejoch. However, you should not ignore the journey to Elbigenalp (ascent from the Austrian side) or to the marching band. You can also get a taxi to Spielmannsau from Oberstdorf (approx. €22).

Refreshment and overnight accommodation options: Hermann-von-Barth Hut (hermann-von-barth.at) on the descent or ascent via Elbigenalp, Kemptener Hut (kemptner-huette.de), Berggasthof Spielmannsau (www.spielmannsau-berggasthof .de)

A mountain with vision. The exhausting Kraxelei is worthwhile!

    Mountaineering

The roof of the Allgäu Alps - after a relatively easy ascent you will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view. On clear days you can see Lake Constance in its entirety.
