Heidschnucken ... the lawn mowers in the heather. .no they are not goats 😂 in the herds but a few of them run around with us

Without the Heidschnucke's constant appetite for small trees, shrubs, wild herbs and the small, somewhat gnarled heather plant itself, these largest heath areas in Europe could not be preserved: the constant nibbling of the sprouts keeps the heath short, the nutrient-poor soil and the young heath can follow. The savannah-like structure and with it the unique flora that provides a habitat for so many animal and plant species has been saved. The fact that black grouse, gray shrike, woodlark, whinchat and stonechat, red-backed shrike and nightjar find a protected refuge here in the heath is only thanks to these four-legged landscapers...
