The population had its origin in the Iberian settlement of La Esquerda (belonging to the municipality of Masías de Roda) which was abandoned at the beginning of the s. XIV. Its inhabitants settled in a new nucleus, at one end of the bridge over the river Ter.

Roda de Ter is a Spanish municipality in the Osona region, Barcelona province. It is located in the lowest part of the Osona region, next to the river Ter. It is an eminently industrial municipality, in which the textile industry has stood out since ancient times, which originally used hydraulic power as driving energy. It is, after San Hipólito de Voltregá, the smallest municipality in the region and is almost entirely surrounded by the municipality of Masías de Roda, except for a small section to the SW where it borders Gurb.
