The Protestant believers in Ibra belong to the Protestant parish of Oberaula, whose Sunday services alternate between Oberaula, Friedigerode, Hausen, Ibra, and Wahlshausen. From 1465 onward, the then Catholic church in Ibra was a branch of Hausen; it became Protestant, like the entire Landgraviate of Hesse, in 1526. The church has a tall tower, accessible only from the church floor through a narrow, lockable opening. In times of uncertainty, the population found shelter here. Inside the church, the pulpit parapet, decorated with inlaid work, and the old, functioning tower clock mechanism are worth seeing.
