Vlodrop station was the Dutch border station of the Antwerp - Duisburg (Eiserner Rhein) rail link, which unfortunately was closed. The German counterpart is the Dalheim train station.

The tracks along this old train station are overgrown in part, but are still clearly visible.

The approximately 13 km long section (Dalheim -) Vlodrop border - Roermond is no longer operational. The route crosses the De Meinweg National Park from the German-Dutch border. The formerly double-track route is in places on a 10 to 15 m high embankment in order to overcome wetlands and uneven terrain. Parts of the railway superstructure (including dilapidated rails, wooden sleepers and ballast) are still there. The Dutch border station Vlodrop, approximately 800 m from the German border, was completely dismantled in the 1970s; Areas that had become vacant were reforested. Two parallel tracks still exist at the former Melick-Herkenbosch train station; the station building was demolished. The city limits of Roermond are reached west of Melick-Herkenbosch. Between Herkenbosch and the A73, which runs in a tunnel, the route forms the northern boundary of the Roerstreek industrial area. As part of a new construction of the four-lane N293, the railway line had to be interrupted for a length of around 25 m. A crossing structure was not planned. After crossing the A73, the railway line crosses the residential development of Roermond-Zuid for around two kilometers. Approximately 300 m south of Roermond station, the Iron Rhine meets the Roermond to Sittard line. The branching switches were dismantled, but the remains of branching tracks remained.
