Glasebach Show Mine (HWN 175)

This kiln was built directly on a limestone quarry. The limestones were placed in the furnace in the form of a vault that completely filled the furnace. The end of the oven was often covered with clay. A wood fire was laid from below, which was maintained until all the limestones had burned out. The lime burned here was used in the smelting of the iron ore mined from the mines, in farmers' own needs and in domestic use. During the restoration work, a lining was found at the mouth of a water solution gallery in the region.
