This whole complex around the ship lifts and the Schleusenpark-Henrichenburg is an excursion destination in itself! There is so much to discover that a single day is almost not enough.

Here you should take your time and immerse yourself in the technology of today “New Lock”, yesterday's “Shaft Lock”, the day before yesterday's “Lift” and even older “Old Ship Lift”, discover and explore it.

This highlight is exactly the same in terms of position
Lock Park Waltrop / Land's End - headland in the upper water

The headland in the upper water lies exactly on the branch between the active waterway north and the former upper water of the old Schachtschleuse. The promontory is not only beautifully landscaped, it offers space and seating for a rest. From here you can watch the lock traffic.

Locks and lifting area, resting with Papa Christos in the beer garden or on the biplane. Visiting the elevator is also a special experience.

Here you can see technology from different generations. The entire Waltrop lock park including the lift is a very interesting destination - not only for technology fans.

Nice opportunity for a rest, where you can watch the ship traffic on the canal.

Even in my youth, the ship lift was one of the most popular destinations.
So it is not surprising that one of our first school trips led there. Today, after all these years, it is still interesting to look at this system.

The boat lift Henrichenburg is absolutely worth seeing, unfortunately we were there because of a plate until 18:15 clock, at 18:00 is closed.

The "Schleroppark Waltrop" is a historical technology ensemble and, thanks to two energy-saving locks and two hoists, is unique in the smallest inland in the entire inland waterway network in Europe.
