The village church of Altenklitsche was built between 1712 and 1715 by the Magdeburg master builder Christoph Behse on behalf of the then district administrator Baltzer Friedrich von Katte. It replaced the previous building, a simple wooden church, and was built in Baroque style with magnificent furnishings.
