Here at the Zundeltor stands as a striking waypoint the approximately 20 meter high Seelturm. It was built in the 14th century as part of the Ulm city wall at the Zundeltor. The name comes from the Seelengraben and the Seelhaus in today's Griesgasse. Here the sick and needy (especially leper) were cared for by nuns / nuns. These people were considered poor "souls", hence the name. In 1638 the weir tower was converted into a water tower, hence the well or pump house next to the Zundeltor. The water came from the blue, which then had a different course. With the change in water supply, the use of the tower also changed. The water tank was removed and two floors moved in. The tower is now owned by the city of Ulm and is used, among other things, by the German Alpine Club.

The Zundeltor on which it stands was one of the Ulm city gates takes its name from the tinder that was brought into the city through this gate. Among other things, it was stored in the Seelturm, which is why it is also known as the second, less well-known name, the Zundelturm. Not far is the armory, where weapons and ammunition were also stored.

Small, very pretty houses, the so-called Grabenhäusle, stand on the city wall. In times of war, the imperial city of Ulm recruited additional troops. In order to adequately accommodate them and thus also increase their attractiveness, the city built the moat houses on the city wall from 1610. At the beginning of the 19th century, more precisely from 1810
most of the houses were sold to their residents. 35 of these houses have been preserved and decorate the city wall from the moat to the moat.

Oh how cute and beautifully laid out. Here you want to ring in the end of the day with a glass of wine in the evening. A place to fall in love with.
