Bike Touring Highlight
Vilshofen, the small riverside town, located at the mouth of the Vils and the Wolfach in the Danube, announces itself from afar through the mighty metal arch construction of the Marienbrücke. Vilshofen is a nice stage destination if you are on the way to the Lower Bavaria. This is all about beer. You can visit the Bierunterwelten, a 90 meter long vaulted cellar, recently discovered and opened in 2017. Or you cycle along the signposted Bierradlweg and enjoy a refreshing brew here and there. Also, if you are not interested in beer, it does not have to be boring in Vilshofen. You can visit the antiquarian library or go to the Africa Museum. And if you like to spend an extraordinary night, you'll find heavenly peace in the monastery of the Benedictine Abbey Schweiklberg.

Vilshofen an der Donau is the largest city in the district of Passau, along the Danube Cycle Path.
In addition to many cultural offers, it also has an airfield.
A visit in transit is definitely worth it!

A highlight is the passage that consists of beer crates and has a wheel at the top as a "landmark"

Small but beautiful town on the Danube, with many opportunities to relax and unwind
May 12, 2018
Vilshofen on the Danube lies at the confluence of the tributaries Vils, Pfudrach and Wolfach, south of the Bavarian Forest, about 20 kilometers upstream from Passau. Through these tributaries into the Danube, the city is also called the small Three Rivers City, while the three-river town of Passau serves as a model. The north-south extent of the urban area is about 6 km and the east-west extension about 10 km. The height above sea level ranges from 309 to 457 m above sea level.

A really nice town if it weren't for the traffic. It is almost impossible to take pictures in front of the gate. Cycle slowly through without being pushed away is also not possible. It's a shame ☹️
