The tower represents the impressive remainder of the local desert of Moseborn. Derived from this, it is also called the "mouse tower". In some places of the surrounding meadows there are still traces of the former tillage (Wölbäcker). The tower was certainly the steeple of a fortified church. This is evident from the field name "Kirchwiese". Around 10 farmsteads can be found archaeologically, which consisted of both stone buildings and clay post structures. After the village was abandoned in the 15th century, the residents probably moved to Holzerode. From there, the cultivation of the fields was continued, since we have no field desolation here in contrast to the northern desert "Leisenberg".

The old village was devastated; what is left today is the ruin of a tower.
