Historic place. After the fountain's commercial use ended, the industrial site was dismantled and restored to its condition from around 1910. The central building and at the same time the landmark of the Selters community is the so-called fountain temple, which was built over the actual Selters water source and, so to speak, covers it. Citizens of the community can bottle the original seltzer water for home use in the directly adjacent outbuildings. The facility also houses the Selterswasser Museum and several event and conference rooms.

The name Selterswasser originally refers to mineral water containing saline from the springs in Lower Hessian in the Lower Hessian region of Taunus, from where it has been exported in stone jugs since the late 16th century. The brand name has now become a generic name, and the English word "Seltzer" is also a synonym for mineral water. A prominent lover of water was the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who always wanted to have seltzer water in his household. Selters is sold internationally today. Mineral water from the Taunus is particularly present in China and Russia.
