The place was first mentioned in a document in the Würzburg fief book from 1303 as "Betrichsdorf". The determining word for the place name is Baturich, the personal name of the founder of the settlement. In 1410 it was mentioned as "Betersdorff", in 1504 finally as "Peterßdorff", obviously a reinterpretation, since the personal name was no longer common at that time. It can be assumed that the place was founded in the 12th or 13th century as a clearing place.

The properties were subordinate to various landlords: the northern courtyards belonged to the Lords of Lohenroth, the so-called Sauernheimsche Hof to the Nuremberg patricians Kreß von Kressenstein and the remaining courtyards to the Nuremberg patricians from Welser. The church tithe had to be paid to Forst.
