Brandenburger Strasse is Potsdam's shopping street. There are the standard shops like McDonald's, Starbucks or Karstadt, but there are also lovely cafes, quaint shops, bookshops and even an esoteric stone shop. The city's Christmas market is always on this street. It's definitely worth taking a look.

Anyone who makes an appointment with Potsdamers at the Brandenburg Gate should pay attention to which address he enters in the route planner - or, best of all, use this highlight right away. Not that the other party waits in vain for about 35 kilometers in Berlin. The Potsdamer Brandenburg Gate was built in 1770/71 on behalf of Frederick II and is thus about 10 years older than the Berlin namesake. Previously, here was a slightly simpler gate that was then part of the demolished in 1900 city wall and was built together with the wall to stop the smuggling. Those who wanted to make their way to the city of Brandenburg had to pass this gate - hence the name. Today, anyone who wants to stroll from the Luisenplatz through the main shopping street of Potsdam, the Brandenburger Straße - or from there on the way to Sanssouci - passes the gate.
