The Sondernheimer Ziegelei was founded in 1834. Only in 1976 came the end for the brickyard, which was the longest working brick factory in the district. Today, the brickworks and the associated field railway system is refurbished in accordance with the monument and, in addition to a restaurant, is home to a museum about the history of the brickyard.

    Opening hours:
Every 1st Sunday of the month from April to October 10am - 3pm

    Ticket prices:
Group guided tours with final field train ride: 5 € per person (groups of 15 or more people)

Field railway: 1.50 € per person from 4 persons on the Museum Sundays

Here you will find the Sondernheim brick museum with a field railway and two refreshment stops directly on the Rhine with a beautiful bike path. Bricks were made here until 1976. A visit here is recommended.
From the café on the Rhine, you have a view of the brickworks and the Feldbahn! -> Stairs up to the toilets (which are only for guests).

Nice building. On the north side there is a small SB Retaurant with delicious beer and food, right at the southern end of a cafe. Depending on what you like, you can stop by one or the other. Very nice, especially because otherwise it is rather "dry" in the area.

Next to the Ziegeleilokal is 100 meters further towards Wörth Ziegeleicafe '(see photo of the Tafel => freshly smoked trout or schnitzel) and one kilometer further towards Wörth the PWV lock house of the OG Sondernheim. In summer, Wednesdays and Sundays are open.

Beautiful beer garden with brick museum right on the Rhine. Unfortunately always very busy, but worth trying. In addition, right next to a small cafe with a Rhine terrace ...

Those who want to take a break here will find opportunities to get something to eat and drink. That didn't speak to me.

The bank of the Rhine is closed (Febr. 2017) from the old brickyard. The restaurant is open from 11:00. Just before that, the shipping channel is being dredged deeper, so it's a little louder outside.

Refreshments for example at the PWV lock house possible. Nice atmosphere and friendly, volunteer staff at the lock house, which is managed by the local group of the Palatine Forest Association.
