Ever wondered whats beyond slippery stones? Really techy gravel road, but worth it. If you want a swimming spot a little quieter, carry on and find plenty further up stream. Even saw fish in the river! I did this on a gravel bike, and it was extremely hard work; be easy on a mountain bike though.
