The castle was built in 1735 as the seat of Baron Ernst Johann Philipp Hartmann von Buseck.
At the end of the 19th century, a tower was added to the north side of the building, which houses a small chapel on the third floor. The castle remained in the possession of the von Buseck family until 1866, when it was taken over by the barons of Thünefeld. In 1884 the farm buildings around the castle, which had meanwhile fallen into disrepair, were demolished and a large park with a pond was created. In 1937, Countess Gabriele von Andlau-Homburg, married Weber, took over the property. In 1996, the municipality of Eppelborn finally acquired the castle building with the associated park.
In 2003, Buseck Castle was awarded the Saarland Monument Preservation Prize. On November 1, 2019, a café with outdoor seating opened on the ground floor of the castle.
