The church was rebuilt between 1699 and 1701 after its predecessor was demolished. It was renovated in 1977/78 and 1991.

The first documentary mention of Drognitz was in 1120.
Since January 11, 2015, the Drognitz church has been ringing with 3 bells again. On this day the third bell, which had been missing since World War II, was rededicated. (Another bell was found at the bell cemetery in Hamburg and brought back.)
There are 3 rococo tombstones in the cemetery, evenly constructed in the form of a pyramid with shell cartouches.
