After the old chapel fell into disrepair, the community built this wayside shrine on the same site in 1910 in honor of the people's saint Anthony.
According to legend, a shepherd planted a wych elm in this place around 1750, which was eaten by the elm bark beetle in 1991 and had to be felled. With a height of 32 meters and a trunk circumference of 5.82 meters, it was the mighty mountain elm in the Paderborn district.
St. Anthony of Padua, also known as Klüngelanton, is venerated here. Every year on the name festival on June 13th, the community takes part in a procession in honor of the saint.
