Cycling

There has been a water mill on the Dömnitz in Schönhagen since the middle of the 15th century. Until the 18th century it was under the rule of von Platen zu Mesendorf, later under the Pritzwalks. During this time there were 15 water mills on the rivers Dömitz, Kemnitz and Rodan within a radius of 9 km around the city of Pritzwalk. The current mill building dates from 1848. In 1945 the mill and 430 acres of arable land were expropriated. The mill has been privately owned again since 2005 and is operated as an organic hotel.
