Not far from this point there was a mock airport on the north side of the Haarstrang during the Second World War. It was built in 1939 by the labor service to distract from the military airport in Werl, 7 km away. For this purpose, dummy airplanes were set up and ten halls measuring 10x20 meters were built. During air raids, welding and other work was also simulated. This facility was operated by six soldiers who were accommodated in the nearby bunker.
