It wasn't until 1952 that Godshorn had its own parish, until then the residents had to go to the distant Martins parish in Engelbostel. A small chapel was probably built here at the end of the 15th century. There was no money for an own pastor, but at least old and frail people could attend services twice a year at Pentecost and at Easter. The chapel was the center of the cemetery, which was moved in 1906. The current chapel was built in 1746 as a half-timbered chapel
