Hiking Highlight
Recommended by 44 out of 46 hikers
To get to the Rinnmühle, you have to hike deep into the floodplain forest. You can reach them from Geringswalde just as easily as from Hermsdorf, Erlbach or Methau. From Geringswalde you walk past the municipal baths, further in the direction of Herrenmühle, into the green countryside.
Either you continue walking along the road in the direction of "Leipziger Hütte" or you use the paths with information boards that have been set up by nature lovers.
If you feel like it, you can also walk in the footsteps of the old castle, there are only ruins left, but a memorial stone reminds you of the old days. Those who stayed there a little can now continue hiking the last stretch to the Rinnmühle.
Although the "Rinnmühle" restaurant has been closed for many years, it is still a popular destination for many hikers.
The mill was first mentioned in 1587. It was used until 1950 and is a listed building. Opposite the former restaurant is the dance hall, which was used especially at Pentecost.

As is so often the case, only a desolate remnant can be seen of the restaurant at the Rinnmühle am Auenbach in Erlbach. The mill itself is a monument and today a residential building that has been partially renovated since 1999. Opposite the restaurant there is still the dance hall, where people always invited to dance at Whitsun. It only brings back memories, even though the building is not that broken. It is a grinding and cutting mill that worked until 1950.
