Kurzfeld is located in western Hückeswagen on the border with Wermelskirchen near Scheideweg.
Other neighboring towns are Strucksfeld, Maisdörpe, Stoote, Dreibäumen, Dörpfelderhöhe and Dörpfeld. The town can be reached via a spur road from the L101 country road between Scheideweg and Dreibäumen.
One of the two source streams of the Strucksfelder Bach, a tributary of the Kleine Dhünn stream, rises in the town.
The town was first mentioned in church accounts in 1484. Spelling of the first mention: Kuytzfelde/Kutzhove.
