The Roman stream runs past Rome, from which the name of the place derives. Initially, the place consisted only of a pig farm of the so-called "pig pope". Later, a large restaurant and a few weekend houses were built in the 1960s. In 1429 the place was first mentioned in a document, namely "Johan von Ditzenhausen buys part of Rome".
