Mannerheim Statue

The Marshal Mannerheim Equestrian Monument (in Finnish, Marsalkka Mannerheimin equestrian patsa) is an equestrian monument erected in honor of the President of Finland, Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, located in the center of Helsinki along Mannerheimintie on Mannerheim Square.The author of the statue is sculptor Aimo Tukiainen. The monument was opened on the anniversary of Mannerheim's birth, June 4, 1960. The reason why the memorial had to be an equestrian monument was justified on the one hand by the fact that Mannerheim was a cavalryman.

Statue in honor of Mannerheim, Commander-in-Chief of the Finnish Army in the Winter War 1939/1940 and in the 1941 Continuation War and Finnish President from 1944 to 1946.

The Mannerheim monument, a large equestrian statue, is located just next to the station in front of the Kiasma Museum.
