The Thumsee (from the Latin word dumosus, German overgrown with scrub) is a lake in the district Karlstein about three kilometers west of the city center of Bad Reichenhall and about 1400 meters west of the center of Karlstein in the district Berchtesgadener Land in southern Bavaria (Germany) and is located privately owned. Likewise, Thumsee is the name of the Bad Reichenhaller district, which lies in the north and northeast of the lake.
