What is striking is a large-format picture of the “Fünf-Pfennigs-Brücke”. The bridge was built in 1921 over the Emscher River to connect Westphalia with the Rhineland. At that time you had to pay a toll of five pfennigs to cross. The picture was painted by local women with the support of the artist Reinhard Wieczorek.
In front of the pillars of the bridge you can see a herd of concrete sheep. They were initially created as plaster models by students at the Schiller School; The artist Guido Berndsen later cast them life-size in concrete.
