The Glaswaldsee is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is wonderfully idyllic and quiet. The water has a dark color due to its sandstone background and acidity. The lake is wonderful for swimming and cooling off. The requirements of the nature reserve must be observed, so you should refrain from barbecuing or camping. The wildly romantic and mystical atmosphere around the lake make it a unique destination.

In the hope to find water here a 35km stage inserted. Unfortunately, the water of the lake is inedible. Behind the lake on a forest road, trickle down some fresh water, after filtering it was good drinkable.

In the afternoon you can plan a picnic at the Glaswaldsee. The sun goes down so that you can enjoy the last warm rays of sun on the picnic benches by the lake.

"... The Glaswaldsee is referred to as the" black eye "in the central northern Black Forest. It is one of twelve preserved cirque lakes in the Black Forest. Due to the earlier use for rafting, which required frequent damming and draining of the water, it was almost possible to get into the Glaswaldsee The lake and its surroundings have been designated as a nature reserve Glaswaldsee since 1960. At the Glaswald-Seeblick on the Lettstädter Höhe there is a wonderful view of the Karsee.
The lake level (960 meters) rises about 120 meters above the Glaswaldsee, through the ridge of which the Westweg leads on a narrow forest path through a quiet and natural landscape past the Hildahütte to the Lettstädter Höhe. From the lake level it is possible to descend on a steep path of about 200 m to the lake, or to choose a longer and more accessible path to the lake shore.
The dark water of the lake glistens in the light of the sun and the trees all around are reflected in the water of this wild and romantic Karsee, so that an unforgettable memory of this excursion will remain in your memory. ... "

In front of the parking lot it is 1.1 km to walk to the Glaswaldsee, it is quite an uphill climb but the lake is very idyllic and there is a wonderful atmosphere, provided the people in the area are calm.

Perhaps I should also mention that I don't mean the Glaswaldsee view with table and bench, but rather a little spot in the forest with a view of the lake (high above the west bank).

a very beautiful lake, in a quiet area. The water is very smooth, so that the trees reflect on the surface .... on a rainy day also very mystical .... many tables and benches invite you to take a rest right by the water
