The banana cycle path in Dortmund is a 3.6 kilometer long railway cycle path that leads from the center of Dortmund southwards into the Emschertal and is a popular cycle route to Lake Phoenix. Originally opened as a railway line in the 1980s, it was later closed for train traffic and converted into a well-developed cycle path. An extension of the banana cycle path is planned for the coming years in order to further expand the route.
