Liebau Castle is the ruin of a spur castle on a flat rock spur on the right valley slope of the Elster. It is located southwest of the Liebau district of the municipality of Pöhl in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony and about 2 km north of the Pöhl dam.The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1327 as "castrum lubawe".
In 1640 the castle was sacked by Swedish mercenaries and the stair tower was set on fire. The castle was then owned by Johanna Charlotte until 1742 and then fell into disrepair. From 1995 to 1997, security work was carried out on the castle in cooperation with the State Office for Archeology.

It is part of the Bailiffs' cultural path, which will invite you to take a historical voyage of discovery through the Vogtland from 2019.
