The turquoise blue of this lake is not easily forgotten!

@Kjell: with the high route is certainly the way of Tre Croce on the Forc. Marcoira meant. Especially in very warm weather, the ascent in the other direction would be arduous, very steep.
In addition, one would in good weather, v. A. in season, on the lower trail from Tre Croce in a procession run-most tourists just want the easiest way to the lake and back.

It is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the Dolomites: Lake Sorapis.

All visitors are captivated by the turquoise-blue lake at an altitude of 1,900 meters.

This well-known tourist destination is especially popular in summer, when temperatures
        climb.

The pastel-turquoise lake with its white rock faces and gentle alpine meadows in the background is truly a magical place. Here, you can unwind
and, surrounded by the mighty Dolomites, forget the stress and hustle and bustle of everyday life
for a short time. Located about 150 meters from the Vandelli Hut, you
can only reach this Dolomite lake on foot.

The lake takes its name from the mountain range southeast of Cortina d'Ampezzo, whose highest peak is Punta Sorapiss at 3,205 meters. This is why Lake Sorapis is often spelled with a "double s" – i.e., Lake Sorapiss.

The starting point for the hike to Lake Sorapis is Passo Tre Croci,
located in the province of Belluno between Misurina and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Here, you first follow the signs for "Vandelli Hut" to the barrier,
where the hiking sign with trail marker no. 215 points to
        "Lago di Sorapis."
The pleasant hike begins with gentle ups and downs, initially mainly through the forest, before later becoming a somewhat rocky and ascending path. The trail, which then leads past rock faces above the tree line, is also somewhat exposed in places – however, it is equipped with safety ropes.
Afterward, the trail continues at a more leisurely pace to the Vandelli Hut, and after just a few more minutes' walk, you reach the turquoise mountain lake.
