Klöntalersee Dam

Klöntalersee dam at the Rhodannenberg restaurant. Cars drive over the dam of the Klöntalersee every day, while in summer some bathers sit on its cobbled side and look down on the lake. The earth dam has been damming Lake Klöntal for over 100 years and prevents the water from flowing to Riedern and Netstal. Axpo must now reinforce the dam at Lake Klöntal. She will open the dam in the Klöntalersee to make it denser with a steel wall. That was decided after a routine check in 2019.

The reservoir is fed by the river Klön (Glarus dialect: Chlü) and some smaller mountain streams. The Löntsch, in turn, flows down from the lake and flows into the Linth at Netstal.
