With its two mighty bergfrieds, the towering gable between them and the massive walls, some of which are reinforced with crenellations, the coins mountain castle ruins (or coins castle for short) are today the symbol of the Wetterau. The unmistakable silhouette of the Münzenberg castle ruins with its two round keep can be seen from afar. The "Wetterau inkwell", as it is affectionately known in the vernacular, is one of the most important Romanesque castle complexes in Germany and served to secure imperial rule.

NHN[1] high Munzenberg south of Munzenberg in the Hessian Wetteraukreis. It is one of the most important castle complexes in Germany from the High Middle Ages.
