"The refuge was built in 1933 and completely renovated in 1989. It is named after the Trieste mountaineer and speleologist Mario Premuda, who died in 1931 in an accident on the Picco di Mezzodi in the Julian Alps. The hut also houses the climbing school named after the Trieste mountaineer Emilio Comici. The refuge is a popular destination for its cuisine, but does not offer overnight accommodations and is open year-round except in February."

The Mario Premuda refuge is located at the mouth of the Val Rosandra, not far from the town of Bagnoli, a fraction of the municipality of San Dorligo della Valle. It houses the headquarters of the Emilio Comici mountaineering school and is very popular with hikers, climbers and ordinary citizens in search of tranquility just a few kilometers from the center of Trieste. For its elevation (82 meters above sea level) it is the lowest alpine refuge in continental Italy.

Cute refuge accessible to all. Great for a dinner after the hikes. Kind staff and super potatoes in the cup! Great takeaway service too :)
