The Great Cascade in the Nymphenburg Palace Park is based on a plan by Joseph Effner and was designed by François de Cuvilliés the Elder. Ä. formerly made of Tegernsee marble, which had to be replaced by reddish and gray Veronese marble after it was destroyed in the war in 1945.The two 1,800 and 1,400 square meter fountain basins, which flow noisily into one another over two and six cascades respectively, with a smaller oval basin in the middle, surrounded Cuvilliés with the figure of the river god of the Danube (on the left) from a former fountain complex Center) and the spring nymph Isar (right of center) by Giuseppe Volpini (1717), the flora by Charles Debut (1725) and Hercules by Volpini (1721) were added. Additional characters were later added by Roman Anton Boos.
