Hiking

You can hardly get any closer to the old town from the Hohenlohe plain. Castel Sant'Angelo is a popular vantage point over Rothenburg's old town - the castle garden in the foreground. The Rothenburg ski jump once stood here.

From here you have a wonderful view of the western part of Rothenburg. From the Burggarten over the "Riviera", Kobolzeller Tor to the Spitaltor you can see churches, towers and parts of the city wall, the formerly free imperial city of Rothenburg and you now know where the addition of "whether the Tauber" comes from.
