From June 15 to 19, 1889, the Wettin Festival was held throughout Saxony to commemorate the 800 years of Wettin rule in Saxony. The H stands for Henry, Count of Eilenburg, the first Wettin, to whom the County of Meissen (later Saxony) was granted in 1089. The A commemorates King Albert of Saxony, the reigning ruler of the kingdom in 1889.
